On January 22, a new project "Meeting at Sytin" starts in the Museum-Apartment of I. D. Sytin, which is a lecture cycle about the artist or one of the trends in art (and not only).
The peculiarity of the project is that we select topics and personalities that do not often appear on the Internet for various lecturers.
In just an hour and a half, guests will be able to immerse themselves in the explored era in the relaxed atmosphere of a cozy Moscow museum in the very center of the city.
If you have long dreamed of understanding fine art, love modern formats and strive to learn something new, then on January 22 we are waiting for you at the first "Meeting at Sytin", where you will meet the most mysterious symbolist artist of the turn of the 19th-20th centuries.
We are waiting for you for a cup of coffee and a fascinating chamber conversation.
The cycle will include many more meetings, I suggest not to write this in the museum-apartment of ID Sytin (Tverskaya, 12, p. 2).
Meetings start at 12:00
January 22 at 12:00 - At the first meeting, we will talk about the symbolist artist of the 20th century and Sytin’s good friend - Mikhail Vrubel.
February 5 at 12:00 - Russian impressionism and its long journey to its audience.
The phrase "Russian Impressionism" only a year ago cut the ear of the average citizen of our vast country. Every educated person knows about the light, bright and impetuous French impressionism, can distinguish Monet from Manet and recognize Van Gogh’s sunflowers from all still lifes. Someone heard something about the American branch of the development of this direction of painting - more urban compared to the French landscapes of Gassam and portraits of Chase. But researchers argue about the existence of Russian impressionism to this day. At a new meeting with Sytin, we will look into the phenomenon of impressionism in Russia and discover the names of artists of the 20th century who worked in this direction.
February 19 at 12:00 - The life and work of Nicholas Roerich.
Artist, stage designer, philosopher, writer, traveler, archaeologist, public figure - the list of Nicholas Roerich’s roles is endless. He drew up the first international agreement on the protection of cultural property and created the philosophical doctrine "Living Ethics", revived ancient Russian crafts and designed theatrical performances at Sergei Diaghilev’s Russian Seasons. Paintings by Nicholas Roerich are kept in the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Oriental Art and private collections around the world.
A QR code and a passport are required to attend the event.
