September 13 at 19:00 in the gallery "Belyaevo" Association "Exhibition Halls of Moscow" in the framework of the Parallel Program of the 7th Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art will officially open the exhibition "My First Lenin", dedicated to personal memories and interpretations of the image of the Leader.
Alexander Podosinov (My First Lenin project)
The common phrase “we are all from childhood” in a sense means that there are some symbolic figures, names and special circumstances that form not only a collective memory, but also a purely personal memory.
The name of Lenin, it seems, has long sunk into oblivion, but once it is pronounced, a stable chain of psychophysiological reactions arises that refer to the recent past. Removing internal censorship (external has long been removed), project participants reflect on this phenomenal obsession.
At one time there were legends that even a professional, a member of the Union of Artists, could depict Lenin only with the written permission of the relevant authorities. This is the initial message, the esoteric basis of the project.
For project participants, then still students of art studios, “My First Lenin” is a reconstruction of the coveted moment of possessing a certain secret, an opportunity to taste the forbidden fruit of “real” art.
This is a very personal, intimate experience, transferred from the past to the present, something like trying to synthesize the memory of your first childhood steps, the first word, the first date. And most importantly, each of the authors has their own unique experience, their own “first Lenin”.
