The masterpieces of the famous monumental artist, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Konstantinovich Tsereteli will be seen for the first time in the Geneva gallery D10 Art Space at the exhibition “Monumental”.
Tsereteli’s work is known firsthand in Geneva: the author of world-famous sculptural works has already unveiled a monument to Sergio Vieira de Mello, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, who was tragically killed in Iraq. This time, the master of Russian art prepared a real surprise for Genevaers: 93 works made in various techniques - from silk-screen printing to enamels.
“We carefully selected each work for the exhibition to show visitors the versatility of Tsereteli’s work. We wanted to acquaint the Swiss public with contemporary Russian art and decided to do it monumentally, ”said Victoria Dzodziev, owner of the D10 Art Space gallery.
Each of the presented works is unique, while the entire collection traces the influence of the works of Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall, with whom Zurab Tsereteli personally met when he lived and worked in Paris. The author of numerous works of painting, graphic art, sculpture and monumental decorative art easily conveys the thirst for life, excitement, love, nostalgia and sadness on canvas, paper and enamel. Tsereteli paints dreams of the past and future in bright colors, masterfully weaving a piece of his native Georgia into each of his paintings.
“This is an exhibition about Russia, and about Georgia, and about the whole world, and about each of us. In each work you can see the new Tsereteli, not just the world-famous monumental artist, but a person who loves, suffers, yearns and worries. It is this soulfulness that creates the true master, whose work will certainly be appreciated in Switzerland, ”said Dzodziev.
