On February 7, 2019, the National Art Gallery “Khazine” (Kremlin, Sheinkman Driveway 12, 3rd entrance) of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan will host the opening of the exhibition “The Artist’s World in Details”. Still life of the second half of the twentieth century from the funds of the Pushkin Museum of the RT
It just so happened that a still modest place is usually assigned to a still life at art exhibitions. It is considered a secondary genre. Meanwhile, in a still life, more than in any other genre of fine art, there are great opportunities to convey the wealth of the material world, the bounty of the earth, its gifts, the beauty of objects surrounding a person, and with them - thoughts about life, philosophical thoughts about her.
Outside the windows there were severe winter frosts, and the smells of spring field herbs, bright flowers and juicy berries, sunny summers with fragrant sweet honey and loaves of freshly baked bread, and generous fertile autumn seemed to burst into the halls of the museum. It is as if the Kazan still lifes of the 1960-1980s absorbed the whole colorful color scheme of our rich nature.
For some artists, such as E.V. Zuev, S.V. Neustroyev, O.A. Kulpin, still life is the main genre through which they express their worldview, the world of their spiritual interests. For others (B.I. Mayorov, I.M. Khalilullov, V.K. Fedorov, Z.S. Batraev), he serves the purpose of painting searches, a means of improving his skills. These circumstances could not but affect the variety of handwritings of artists, their individual identity. All the works of artists, different in the manner of execution, are united by one common quality - the optimistic attitude of their authors, great sincerity and major flavor.
In the still life of the 1990s, a whole system of a special language of signs, images, codes that convey a person’s subjective sensation of realities of both the external world and the internal world, a language capable of capturing both visible and invisible, was manifested. The viewer, reader, listener has a special mission of freedom of interpretation, provided by the openness, semantic incompleteness of the work. At that time, such masters as E. Golubtsov, A. Dorofeev, I. Khasanov, A. Artamonov, V. Nesterenko, I. Artamonov, A. Lopatkin, G. Arkhireev and others worked in the spirit of postmodernism.
A special love for such a genre as a still life (a certain phenomenon of the “portrait of a still life”), a certain minimalism of expressive means, a complete lack of naturalism as a principle of image, formalism, as an experiment with form, becomes an important component of a painting that helps to express its spiritual content most fully.
The exhibition runs until the end of March.
