The famous avant-garde filmmaker Sergei Parajanov remains one of the most mysterious and unread cultural phenomena for the world intellectual elite. He belonged to a rare type - Man Playing. His films, collages, scripts, letters are an endless game with images, colors, dolls, masks, myths, with his own dramatic fate and with death. His work is a unique world of graphic language with a cult of mystery, celebration and beauty. An improviser, a hoaxer and a great buffoon, he performed “miracles” that pulled people out of everyday life and gave them a unique chance to change their own destiny.
Sergei Parajanov, recognized as the last genius of cinema of the twentieth century, passed away in 1990, but in the hearts of those who knew him, he remains alive and cheerful. And there is no death for him.
The project, launched in 2016 and dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Moscow Art Theater. S. Parajanova, has an actual creative character, has an unusual format and continues the traditions of the popular art exhibitions that took place in the 1980s. in the legendary Moscow exhibition hall on Malaya Gruzinskaya street. The project is a presentation of the annual art festival "PARAJANOV ART FEST", which will open in the fall of 2017.
The third exhibition-performance from the project cycle was organized in one of the best exhibition halls in Moscow in the multifunctional center "Riviera". On the site of 800 square meters an allegorical “Parajanovskaya collage” is presented - a synthesis of various types of fine art and theatrical action taking place in an auditorium equipped inside the exhibition space.
The exhibition exhibits the works of more than 40 bright, original artists, sculptors, photographers, masters of arts and crafts of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Latvia, Spain, Greece, as well as collages presented by the Moscow Art Theater. S. Parajanova. The project involves cult photographers of the Soviet, Russian theater and cinema Viktor Bazhenov, Mikola Gnisyuk, Yuri Rost, Igor Gnevashev, Valery Plotnikov, artists Sergey Chesnokov-Ladyzhensky, Mikhail Kaban-Petrov, Yuri Kravtsov, Ivan Krutoyarov, Anna Silivonchik, Igor Leontyev, Oleg Korolev, Armen Gasparyan, Alla Lipatova, sculptors Vadim Kirillov, Andrey Pliev and many others.
The organizers do not set a framework either in genres, or in styles, or in the areas of fine art, and do not repeat the style of Parajanov’s films. The main objective of the exhibition is to show a modern interpretation of the creative space of the Master, in which they can SEE, THINK and FEEL. To see space in a grain of sand, to think differently from everything, to feel in a special way.
This is an exhibition about the soul of Parajanov and the soul of a person as a whole, about the diversity of creative worlds, about individuality in art and in life, about struggle and hope, about feelings and love, about dreams that turn into feasible plans, about faith in a miracle, which you can wait all your life and which is bound to happen.
As part of the exhibition, theatrical performances, musical and poetry evenings, an author’s cinema club, master classes, creative meetings with artists, photographers, theater and cinema figures are planned. All exhibits are for sale.
