International Exhibition Project "NURIEV METHOD" Automatic translate
Artists Alexander Chalovsky (Russia) and Pierre Emmanuel Chatillier (France) explore the life and work of ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev.
From January 15 to February 9, 2014, the exhibition "On Kashirka" will host the exhibition "Rudolf Nureyev - JUMP TO FREEDOM."
Rudolph Nureyev is a talented outstanding person about whom legends still circulate. He devoted all his life to ballet art, full of fame, drama and contradictions.
The exposition includes picturesque canvases on the theme of dance plastics, as well as the animated project “06-16-61”, which analyzes versions of the fateful “jump” of Rudolf Nureyev from the USSR to the world ballet scene on June 16, 1961 at Le Bourget Airport in Paris.
The picturesque part of the project was created by Alexander Chalovsky based on well-known published photos from ballet performances with the participation of R. Nureyev. The artist builds a decorative series of associations, revealing the sacred content of the dance, as an internal act of transforming reality.
In the animation part, Pierre Emmanuel Chatillier, guided by his work experience for the cinema, delves into the study of the famous “Leap into Freedom” by R. Nureyev, which received a wide public response. The artist creates drawings in the genre of detective story and mounts them in the "animatic" (blanks for the film). The video series is continued by three series of lobby cards - traditional “movie postcards”, usually lying at the entrance to the cinema.
Alexander Chalovsky: "Nureyev is a symbol of a person who has made a breakthrough of the border separating a person from freedom to create."
The exhibition "Rudolf Nureyev - JUMP TO FREEDOM" is part of the international exhibition project "The Nuriev Method", which was developed by artists Alexander Chalovsky and Pierre Emmanuel Chatillier together with curator Olga Leonova to participate in the Parallel Program 5 of the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2013, when 75th anniversary of the dancer.
The creative evening will take place on January 18 at 17.00.
