CYLAND Media Laboratory presents the Cyberfest-13 International Media Art Festival (November 11-29, 2021).
Cyberfest is one of the largest media art festivals in Eastern Europe, founded in 2007 by a group of independent artists and curators in St. Petersburg. The main tasks of the festival throughout its history are the study of the interaction of the new artistic language with the traditional one and the presentation of technological achievements through art. Cyberfest brings together representatives of the art world, programmers, engineers and media theorists from all over the world, expands the territory and possibilities of contemporary art, intertwining it with various areas of science and technology.
Cyberfest includes several exhibition projects, sound art and video art programs, as well as a series of discussions and meetings with artists.
The festival is a laureate of the 2018 Sergey Kuryokhin Prize in the category "Best Festival in the Field of Contemporary Art".
Cyberfest is a unique international project that popularizes domestic media art abroad and international media art in Russia. His exhibitions, performances, concerts, video screenings and other events are held not only in St. Petersburg, but also in other cities around the world: London, New York, Moscow, Rome, Berlin, Vilnius, Tokyo, Bogota, Venice.
St. Petersburg Cyberfest uses both classical and experimental urban art spaces, including: St. Petersburg State Academy of Art and Industry named after A.L.Stieglitz, Youth Educational Center of the State Hermitage, Annenkirche, ITMO University Gallery - AIR (Art. ITMO. Residency), gallery of Petr Bely "Luda" and art center "Borey".
The theme of the festival in 2021 is Space and Chaos.
“Every style in art sought to generate its own cosmos - an aesthetic structure and formal solution. But what happens when the aesthetic, the formal loses its meaning in defining what art is? Abyss gives birth to abyss? What can be born of the "abyss" of information? Or will soon the new technologies completely absorb the aesthetic - and our old space of meanings will be completely uninteresting to the new generation of artists? " - Elena Gubanova, artist, curator
