On April 18, the International Day of Monuments and Historic Sites, Arkhangelskoye will hold an open day for representatives of the Moscow tourism industry. The immediate plans of the museum include the organization of excursion bus routes for viewing the architectural and park ensemble, cultural heritage monuments and collections of the Arkhangelskoye Museum-Reserve.
On this day, the ceremony of signing an agreement on cooperation with the Russian Union of Tour Operators will take place, in which Vice President of the Russian Union of Tour Operators (RST) Olga Sanaeva and General Director of the Arkhangelskoye Museum-Reserve Vadim Zadorozhny will take part.
In their spiritual testament, the Yusupovs wrote “… In the event of a sudden termination of our family in our person, Prince and Princess Yusupov, and our two sons Nikolai and Felix, all our movable property, consisting of collections of fine arts, rarities and jewelry collected by our ancestors and by us… we bequeath to the property of the state in the form of preserving these collections within the empire to meet the aesthetic and scientific needs of the Fatherland in accordance with the instructions that will be given for this by the sovereign emperor.
Arkhangelskoye is the only architectural and park ensemble that has survived in the Moscow region, which concentrates the best that was created in Russian estate art of the 18th-19th centuries. The agreement with the PCT is aimed at cooperation in the development of the tourism industry.
In addition to the ceremony, the Arkhangelskoye Museum-Reserve will demonstrate how museum curators and restorers are working to uncover park sculpture (open-air museum) for the spring-summer season. Park sculpture in Arkhangelskoye, made in the late 18th - early 19th centuries, has about two hundred works and, despite the losses, remains a unique collection that defines the face of the estate. The collection is extremely diverse: mainly contemporary copies of famous ancient monuments, decorative garden figures of the middle of the 18th century, works of the classicism era, modern to N. B. Yusupov.
The chief keeper of the park will tell about spring flowering. Very soon, scillas and fragrant violets will not bloom on the slopes of the Upper Terrace and in the “dry pond” of the Bull Grove. Solitaires in the planting will be royal fritillaries and giant bows. After a long break, daffodils, hyacinths and muscari will bloom in the flower beds.
