In anticipation of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Moscow Exhibition Halls Association presents the Sun Ball network art project. About football as a cultural phenomenon, the history of its occurrence, favorite players, fans and football paraphernalia reflect on the participants of children’s creative teams from Russia, Germany and Bulgaria.
In the exhibition space of the Belyaevo Gallery, winners of the first round of the competition will meet. By means of visual art, the exhibitors comprehend a large-scale sporting phenomenon, the image of which is currently acquiring a social context, forms a modern public ethics and contributes to the creation of new socio-cultural landmarks. For example, young artists from the Moscow Palace of Pioneers see the planet as one large stadium, elephants hold the earth, but they are not averse to playing football. Pupils of Tatyana and Nikolai Selivanov, creators of art design workshops of the ZIL Cultural Center, prepared an art object from the “cardboard garbage” collected after the football match, and students of the Children’s Art School named after E. A. Kolchenko (Mytishchi, Moscow Region) present a series of works with the image of football players, coaches, fans and just boys who believe in their sports future. With a pencil, charcoal, oil pastel and bright gouache, they convey on paper their “sporting” observations and impressions. A special understanding of the game of football is offered by participants in the creative studios of the Isopark children’s art gallery. Projects of students are an independent study, where they study the cultural characteristics of different peoples through the “football” prism.
Keeping the creative principles of the game, built on the rules and at the same time on free improvisation, football is able not only to become a metaphor and model of artistic dialogue, but also a symbol of a new post-technological reality. The children’s works presented at the exhibition incredibly sensitively reflect the global processes of these sociocultural changes.
On May 18, at 17:00, the winners of the second stage of the competition will be awarded.
