Mars is not just a planet; it is something more, located more “inside” of mankind than outside. Being first outside the human - as a deity, then outside the Earth - like another planet, it became a projection of some of the feelings, hopes and fears of people. The image of this planet from the time of the archaic was associated with militancy, and later with colonization. Since the 19th century, people began to look at Mars, as a planet that was the Earth before, as an inhabited planet. Mars became the target of possible colonization, and often warlike. From Martians, whose existence was doubted less, more often they expected an invasion. In the XX century, the phenomenon of Mars entered popular culture as the most vivid image of the Other, Alien, who looks at humanity with interest and the desire to enslave, people look at Mars with the same feelings. Modernity continues the colonialist myth: Hollywood films, filming of the Curiosity rover, Elon Musk’s proposals for the bombardment of Mars. The exhibition offers to consider the phenomenon of "Mars" within the culture. This is a research and art project where cultural studies of artists - our contemporaries transform new metaphors and images of “Martian life”. What if we imagine that Mars is already colonized? Not only colonized, but also abandoned, in the infinite desire of man to expand. What can be said about us in the wake of the archeology of the future? Serious research and fantasy enter into a state of indistinguishability, like the first ethnographers, who, for the study of Aboriginal people, dressed in their clothes and played performative scenes from their history. The exhibition is a single installation, built of documents, paintings, graphics, videos and objects.
