Following a long tradition of supporting beginner talents, the Borey Gallery presents the NINA photo project - the debut of Maria Vishnevskaya.
Maria Vishnevskaya was born in St. Petersburg in 2002. I started taking pictures two years ago. The photographs presented at the exhibition were created in 2017-2018 during trips around France - Paris, Loire castles, visits to Moscow, as well as in his native city, Petersburg. The name of the exhibition - “NINA” - is not determined by the content of the exposition, but is personal for the author.
From the author
I do not know how to do it right, and how wrong. I just really love what I do. For me, photography is a way to show the world the way I see it, the way it is for me. And I want to share this, because everyone sees differently, and suddenly someone will be able to recognize themselves in my photos.
Since I picked up the camera, I have had three big trips: Paris, the Loire castles and Moscow. Each city has its own rhythm, and I always try to catch it.
Last summer, Paris was kind of crazy for me. Around all the time there was a holiday, noise, heat, but at the same time everything was accompanied by a special calm and equanimity of what was happening. The first shot made on that day was fully consistent with the atmosphere of what was happening: as soon as I got off the subway, planes were already flying over me and there was a woman with a suitcase and wearing black glasses. I sincerely love this dirty, noisy, smelly and romantic city.
In Moscow, I "caught" Russia. Grandmothers emerging from Dixie metro architecture. Moscow has much more Russia than St. Petersburg. And I like it.
Petersburg is an amazing city. It has its own geometry and aesthetics. I love these bare, old and shabby walls of houses. Not the facades of ceremonial Petersburg, but the real, old, quiet and serene Peter. Most of all I am fascinated by Soviet buildings. In these ugly and old columns, windows, panels, there is something beautiful. There is a contrast in everything: in people, architecture, lifestyle. And all this is accompanied, perhaps, by my invented geometry.
