Marina Vladimirovna Samakayeva was born and raised in Kazan. Graduated with honors from the Kazan Art College, then the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography with a degree in art production. She taught at the native art school, Kazan State Institute of Culture and the Tatar State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University.
Marina Samakayeva - a participant of republican, Russian and international vernissages, held a solo exhibition in the Spanish Granada, repeatedly presented works at international auctions. The exhibition opening at the Khazine NHG is the first personal exhibition of the artist in the halls of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan. The exposition will feature about thirty paintings created by the artist at different periods of her work.
The main theme of the painting by M.V.Samakayeva is her own world, created by the artist’s imagination: people, life activities and entertainment, holidays and different aspects of everyday life. These people and these worlds can arise from anywhere and anywhere: in Kazan or, like Bruegel’s paintings, in a small Dutch village, in winter or summer, in a city or in a village square… On the plane of the canvas, like a mosaic carpet, many plots arise simultaneously, relations of people between themselves and nature: a naive kind image of everyday unhurried human life with its joys and sorrows, holidays and everyday life. The fake, toy world returns to a fairy tale that you want to read and reread, each time finding in it certain details of life. Hence the “Maslenitsa”, “Sabantui”, “Weddings”, or simply the urban landscape of the old Kazan life with its cabs, horse-drawn horses and old steamers… The world of Marina Samakayeva’s paintings is a “patchwork” blanket of memories and nostalgia for the past, it causes bright feelings about something irretrievably lost in today’s fast-paced human life.
Marina Vladimirovna Samakayeva was awarded the gold medal of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. The artist’s works are in the collection of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, private collections in France, Germany, Spain.
The exhibition runs until October 7, 2018.
