“Like death - for a wedding dinner, I am the life that came for dinner…” - from the lines of the last poem by Marina Tsvetaeva.
For every turn of his own destiny the poet has a poetic response, for every turn of the fate of the poet the artist has his own visual answer. This exhibition project is a brave attempt by artists Svetlana Lanshakova and Marina Gurova to visualize several dozen nodes of the life path of one of the most significant poets in world culture - Marina Tsvetaeva.
The exhibition project consists of three chapters. The first chapter is from two series of etchings by Svetlana Lanshakova: “Freitod - Free Death” with a page-by-page display of the same name “Livre d’Artiste” as a special genre of art of a man-made book and the series “Fall Up” - an artistic processing of documents and archives from the collections of the Marina House-Museum Tsvetaeva. More than 80 etchings made up a detailed story about the poet’s creative heritage - from birth to tragic death.
The second chapter of the project “Rilke. Elegy for Marina ”–– the schedule of Marina Gurova - dedication to the two great poets of the twentieth century, Marina Tsvetaeva and Rainer Maria Rilka. The presented graphic works of the artist Marina Gurova are plein air abstractions that perfectly illustrate the nervous “Elegia” Rilke filled with emotional flashes and allusions, his last poetic work, which he dedicated to Marina Tsvetaeva.
The third chapter of the project "Natalia Goncharova - Marina Tsvetaeva": "Of course, we are sisters with you…". This is the line from Goncharova’s poem dedicated to Tsvetaeva.
“Goncharova is a treasure for me, because she knows no value for herself in life or in painting. Therefore, for me - living nature, and the painter - I "- wrote Marina Tsvetaeva in 1932, impressed by the personality of Goncharova after close contact with her in France. (An extensive article by Maria Valova on this topic in the journal Tretyakov Gallery, No. 2, 2018. The presentation of this issue of the magazine is at the opening of the exhibition).
The third chapter of the project presents two large-scale abstract paintings by Marina Gurova (“M” and “N”) and etchings by Svetlana Lanshakova.
The exhibition project will be presented at the Khazine NHC on October 7, 2018.
