On February 14, 2018, in the exhibition hall of fine arts of the Volga branch of the Russian Academy of Arts “Lavrushinsky 15”, a personal exhibition of watercolors by the famous Moscow artist Lucy Charskaya “Moscow, London, New York, Paris” was opened for visitors. Lyusya Charskaya successfully graduated from the Moscow Academic Art School in memory of 1905, studied at the Academy of Printing at the Faculty of Graphic Arts, and completed internships at the Academy of Arts of Russia (St. Petersburg) and France (Paris). The artist works and exhibited a lot and fruitfully. The author is known to the audience for a graphic series in the style of "Nude" and a series with the image of horses. For five years now, an exhibition of a picturesque collection dedicated to Moscow has been held with great resonance in the museums of Vienna, Ljubljana, Bratislava, Moscow, Kaluga, Vyksa and the Moscow Region "Moscow Spells". It is very popular among viewers, especially among the young rising generation.
The exhibition of the Lavrushinsky 15 Hall, consisting of 33 large-format sheets, opens up new dimensions for the artist’s talent. Watercolors depicting the sights of the world’s largest megacities became an attempt by the master to look at the most famous architectural monuments in a new way, through the prism of their own perception. This is “Borodino Bridge”, “Paris Vacation”, “Azure-Purple Evening”, “Hampton Court”, “Thames Breath”. The apotheosis of the exhibition was the New York series. Especially those watercolors where the academic quality of the drawing begins to fade into the background in connection with the increasing pressure of color. The boundaries of the buildings are blurred, and due to the layering of architecture on each other, the watercolor begins to acquire semi-abstract features. These are Twilight in the Jungle, Ripple of Life, Museum of Art and Design, Butterfly Effect. Perhaps today, at the turn of the century, it is difficult to find the most striking author of watercolor series in the urban landscape genre, executed in a realistic manner at such a high level in the technique of alla prima.
Arriving at the exhibition, the audience will receive an indelible impression, give themselves a holiday, warm their soul and heart, imbued with the warmth of the sun generously from the work, and perhaps some watercolors will be an opening for the visitor to the exhibition. This will be a completely new look at the already so familiar panoramas of world cities.
