Lidia Vladimirovna Vertinskaya, nee Tsirgvava, was born on April 14, 1923 in the northern Chinese city of Harbin. Her biography had a lot - life in China, the return to her homeland and the hardships of World War II. The story of her life could easily become the basis for a great fiction novel. In 1942, Lydia married the famous artist Alexander Vertinsky, and in 1943 the Vertinsky family moved to Moscow. In 1955, Lidia Vladimirovna graduated from the painting department of the Moscow Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov and began working as a professional artist at one of the printing plants. In parallel with this, the girl presented her work at various Moscow exhibitions. During one of the student exhibitions, the talented young artist was noticed by the famous Soviet director Alexander Ptushko. It was he who first proposed Lydia to try her hand at cinema. In total, its share in the 1950s - 1960s. five film works fell, thanks to which the audience remembered her as a talented and bright actress.
After leaving the world of cinema, Vertinskaya worked as an artist, earning her living by selling prints. According to the daughter of Anastasia, Lidia Vladimirovna "traveled a lot around Russia, admired the autumn landscapes, abandoned churches, Russian villages drowning in snowdrifts, wrote still lifes, which she then created her engravings". However, the most important thing in her life has always been family. Left as a widow at the age of thirty-four, Lidia Vladimirovna practically single-handedly raised and put on her feet two daughters - Marianna and Anastasia, each of whom subsequently also made a bright career in the world of cinema. Lidia Vladimirovna Vertinskaya died on December 31, 2013 in Moscow, she was buried in the Novodevichy cemetery near the grave of her husband.
