In the Workshop of Eduard Steinberg in Tarusa, from July 24 to August 28, a series of events will take place dedicated to the work of one of the most important masters of non-conformist art: a performance by the artist Oksana Yushko; meeting with the artist’s widow Galina Manevich; jazz performance by the Round Band collective; a creative workshop with the artist Darina Velikanova and a reading group based on the almanac "Tarusa Pages".
The project seeks to present the legacy of Eduard Steinberg and show how the artist’s ideas are interpreted in contemporary culture. All events will take place in the Workshop of Eduard Steinberg in Tarusa, which was donated by the artist’s widow to the Pushkin Museum in 2016.
Performance by Oksana Yushko "Tea on the Table"

"Tea on the Table" - performance invitation. The artist Oksana Yushko invites visitors to join the general tea drinking, get acquainted with the work of Eduard Steinberg, become a member of collective action and leave their mark in the void. The project is based on a sketch from the past - Steinberg’s unfinished sketch with the inscription "service" found in his workshop. Together with Oksana Yushko, the participants of the collective action will create a new reality, looking at some familiar things from a different angle, transforming objects into abstract symbols, filling them with new meanings, visual images and ideas.
Meeting with Galina Manevich

The 46 years of marriage between the artist Eduard Steinberg and art critic Galina Manevich were a real spiritual and creative union. Galina Iosifovna is a faithful companion, muse and friend of the artist. She was interested in the problems of creativity, the correlation of the search for beauty and issues of faith in art. After the death of her husband, Galina Iosifovna did a lot to preserve his heritage and memory. The moderator of the meeting was Anna Yurievna Chudetskaya, senior researcher in the private collections department of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. A.S. Pushkin.
Jazz performance "Correspondence from two angles" staged by Alexey Kruglov

The basis of the performance is the correspondence between the two thinkers of the Silver Age, Vyacheslav Ivanov and Mikhail Gershenzon. The latter was a favorite philosopher of Kazimir Malevich and had a great influence on him. In the project, letters from Malevich and Gershenzon, written to each other, appear in the form of references. Letters from Eduard Steinberg to Malevich and to the philosopher, art critic Oleg Genisaretsky come to life. Musically, two angles are also offered: Aleksey Kruglov prepared Suprematist music specially for the performance (it is known that Malevich tried to improvise on the piano), well-known jazz compositions, which Steinberg loved, will also sound.
Creative workshop with artist Darina Velikanova

Together with the artist and teacher Darina Velikanova, the workshop participants will create a geometric stained glass composition, inspired by the work of Eduard Steinberg. Color, light and geometry will become the main reference points of work in the workshop, and the simplicity, harmony and accuracy of the forms of Steinberg’s works will set the general creative vector. The workshop consists of several parts. At the beginning, a guided tour of the workshop will be offered, which will introduce the atmosphere of the place, the artist’s biography and his basic creative principles. Then the participants, together with the teachers, will create a sketch of the future geometric composition, select the necessary forms and materials, the final stage will be the installation of the installation.
Reading group based on the almanac "Tarusa Pages"

The members of the reading group will read and discuss the legendary literary and artistic illustrated collection of 1961 "Tarusa Pages". One of its compilers was the father of the artist Eduard Steinberg, Arkady Steinberg, who for a long time became the center of attraction of Tarusa life.
The participants in the discussion will learn what influence the creative environment created by his father had on the formation of Edward’s artistic language, and also compare works about the artist’s work with his texts and memories.
