On February 12 at 19:00 in the Small Hall of the ARTPLAY Design Center, an exhibition of the work of the architect, designer, artist Alexander Ermolaev “Summer Practice”, a joint project of the Exhibition Halls of Moscow Association and the TAF Workshop will open.
The exhibition will be held from February 12 - February 24, 2015.
The exhibition genre is traditionally for the expositions of Alexander Ermolaev can be defined by the word "hyperinstallation". Significant for the author characteristics of the works shown - sketchiness, straightforwardness, naturalness, simplicity, brutality - make them related to the phenomena of archaic, pre-cultural time.
Here is the author’s enumeration of exhibits recorded during the preparation of the exposition: “Reliefs, boards, surfaces, volumes - in isolation from the walls; paper, cardboard, drawings - summer organics; collection items, bars, pieces of materials, screws - strange; large photos - accidents, fragments; video sequence - spontaneous pictures, you won’t understand what; objects and materials from Oshevensk - all hell; all together - the feeling that I got into the northern village - houses along the road, large holes, not occupied with anything, sticking out something high… archaic and wildness. "
“From nature, or perhaps from an architectural education, he has an absolute“ hearing ”of space, he creates spaces similar to those that Malevich claimed in his works. The image of space in any of his works, projects, photographs is always more significant, comprehensive and emotional than the details, elements that form it ”(Alexander Lavrentiev).
Most of the works presented in the exposition were made in the northern Arkhangelsk village, the location of the creative base of the TAF Workshop. Many works were completed last summer of 2014. The “northern” works are supplemented by separate works of the past - carriers of the aforementioned artistic meanings.
“… The exposition should be perceived as an integral construction, as one common statement, as an organic structure into which you are completely immersed” (Alexander Panov).
