Summer season of the workshop of Eduard Steinberg Automatic translate

Branch of the Pushkin Museum. A.S. Pushkin’s “Eduard Steinberg Workshop” in Tarus opens the summer season of 2019. The museum can be visited from June 1 to September 29 on weekends (admission is free). Visitors will be able to listen to an excursion about the life of Eduard Steinberg, see a film shot by the French director Gilles Bastianelli, as well as get acquainted with documentary materials and feel the atmosphere in which the artist’s works were born.

Eduard Arkadevich Steinberg (1937–2012) - Russian artist, a bright representative of the second wave of the Russian avant-garde. One of the most significant masters of nonconformist art, Steinberg did not receive a special art education; he became acquainted with the painting of the 1920s thanks to his father, Arkady Steinberg. Interest in non-art, according to the artist himself, has been forming for him since the mid-1960s due to the opportunity to see the works of artists of the “first avant-garde” in the collection of George Kostaki.

Steinberg became one of those Russian painters whose work took a worthy place in the artistic life of Europe. He is also recognized in his homeland - he was an academician of the Russian Academy of Arts and a holder of the Order of Friendship, was awarded the Academy’s gold medal for his outstanding contribution to the development of painting. The artist’s works are stored in many private collections and collections of foreign and domestic museums.

Steinberg’s life was inextricably linked with Tarusa. Here his youth flowed, here he began his career. In recent years, the artist spent the winter in Paris, and the rest of the time he lived in his house in Tarusa, which was a source of inspiration for him.

In 2016, the widow of the artist Galina Iosifovna Manevich presented the workshop of the Pushkin Museum to them. A.S. Pushkin. Since 2017, the "Workshop of Eduard Steinberg" is open to the public in the summer.
