January 22 at 13:00 ATTACHE LECTURE ON CULTURE OF THE EMBASSY OF MEXICO JORGE REINO "NATURAL AND CULTURAL DIVERSITY OF MEXICO"
The lecture will be held in Spanish with translation into Russian!
Mexican culture is an extraordinary synthesis of different peoples and ethnic groups, each of which has contributed to the formation of the country’s cultural traditions, reflected in textiles, design, clothing, and cuisine. We are used to hearing that Mexico is a mix of Aztec, Indian and Spanish traditions. Yes, seven million Mexicans are still members of Indian groups and speak more than 80 languages. But we do not often think that Spanish traditions were also formed at the turn of classical Europe and the Moorish East. Mr. Jorge Reinoso will talk about the strong influence of China, India and Africa, about what is today’s Mexico, where there are many Americans, Canadians, Europeans. In turn, for example, about 32 million Mexicans live in the USA, not only “broadcasting” their culture, but also “absorbing” the cultural traditions of Americans. In this ethnic and cultural diversity, Mexico is similar to Russia. At the end of the event, Christmas drunkards will be solemnly defeated!
For entrance tickets to the exhibition - 100/50 rubles

Within Exhibition “MEXICO AND RUSSIA. PLEXUS"
The exhibition, as part of the international program of cultural exchange between the Russian Federation and Mexico, opens the third season of the project “On the Familiar and the Unknown”. Many of us represent Mexicans through rather traditional symbols (multi-colored poncho, sombrero, cacti and guitar), but this is not entirely true. The exhibition, which is based on the study of national textiles as a conductor of the cultural traditions of the peoples and ethnic groups of Mexico, will dispel myths, reveal familiar and unknown facts about the country, and make it possible to trace the key signs and symbols embodied in design, as well as its interweaving with Russian culture. And what else can so vividly reflect the history and traditions of the people, if not national clothing: its color, symbols, ornament and jewelry?!
