The Jewish Museum, together with the Encyclopedia of Russian Avant-Garde, opens a set for Andrei Sarabyanov’s new course on the history and theory of the Russian avant-garde.
The cycle about the origins of the avant-garde in Russia, its keynotes and main features starts on January 23, 2019. These are 12 substantial lectures during which students will follow the history of the avant-garde in Russia from the beginning of the 20th century to the era of the collapse of hopes in the 1930s. Researchers of the history of the Russian avant-garde will understand the role of various artistic movements in the formation of the avant-garde movement.
Course author: Andrei Sarabyanov, historian, curator, candidate of art history, author of the fundamental three-volume Encyclopedia of Russian Avant-Garde, as well as a number of monographs and publications on the Russian avant-garde.
The course starts on January 23, 2019, classes will be held on Wednesdays at 19:30 in the museum building at 11 Obraztsova Street, Building 1A.
