“Red Square” is a dance-installation of the project “One Zucker”, which is a socio-kinetic experiment based on deconstructed choreography. The performance explores the theme of violence and freedom through dance, an attempt is made to answer the question: what will happen if it is not consciousness, but the body that is forced to obey external commands? The viewer finds himself in a space where time and narrative do not exist, but where the very essence of some unobtrusive violence unfolds, the process of legitimization of authoritarianism. In other words, you can see how power penetrates the human body. What happens to consciousness at this moment is for the observers to decide.
“Wash your hands!” Stand on the right! Do not turn your head! Do not worry! All our lives from all sides we have been given instructions on how to act. Quite often, we follow these instructions without even thinking. Life turns into the automatic implementation of recommendations, advices, directions. Desires and emotions disappear. Obeying is easy and pleasant. ”
One Zucker is a project dedicated to the research and development of a dance performance methodology. The dance project of the choreographer and performer Taras Burnashev has existed since 2006.
The main objective of the project is to rethink the ideas of choreographic postmodernism. In particular, the reflection of the performative process as an attempt to understand what the situation of interaction with the audience means.
Despite the fact that all the performances of the project are very different, and they basically do not have a common style, the first works can be attributed to the genre of the dance theater, in which form and technique occupied the main place. Now the focus of research has shifted toward content and concept. The inspiration for the performances is the personal experience of the project participants in solving pressing issues of the art of body-oriented performance.
Externally, the project’s work is a dance performance in which there is no narrative.
