The Volga-Vyatka branch of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Arsenal) presents an event program for the exhibition “Named Vasari. Gothic" . In the 16th century, the art historian Giorgio Vasari considered the Gothic era to be barbaric and gloomy, but today it is not perceived so unambiguously, and medieval art is of particular interest to viewers and researchers.
Exhibition “Named Vasari. Gothic" continues to develop the main idea of the festival of texts about the art of "Vasari" - the convergence of art and the viewer - and becomes a platform where leading Russian art critics, curators and musicians present their views on the era and its artistic heritage.

Concert "Reconstruction of the Mass"
Performers: Andrey Popovsky, Denis Sorokin, Marina Karpova, Ignat Khlobystin.
Mass - the main genre of medieval church music - spiritual chants performed during worship. Mass "Notre Dame" by Guillaume de Machaux (1300-1377) is the first author’s mass recorded on the full text of the ordinary. The reconstruction experience that the musicians undertake in this project is unusual: the vocal parts are performed on a flute, two guitars and a cello. As a result, the text is erased in the Mass, the solidity of the work breaks up into small particles, the sound is delayed, as in the Notre Dame Cathedral with its unique acoustics.
The concert will take place in the exhibition hall of the central risalit of the Arsenal. Entrance with a ticket to the 1st floor exhibitions, which must be purchased online.
