On November 13, at 20. 00, a concert of Slovak opera soloists will take place on the stage of the Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic named after D. D. Shostakovich.
The project, prepared by the DANCE OPEN International Ballet Festival with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, aims to strengthen and further develop the cultural ties that exist between the countries over the years.
It is worth noting that for Russia and Slovakia the autumn seasons of opera Galas are becoming a new tradition, once again confirming the international character of art and the relevance of the public request for cultural integration. The success of the opera Gala of Russian soloists in the city of Kosice, chosen by the European Union as the European Capital of Culture 2013, predetermined the further development of the initiative of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation: in October 2014, two grandiose Gala stars of the Russian opera were held in Kosice and in Bratislava.
The masterpieces of the world opera repertoire sounded for the Slovak public performed by the tenor of the Mariinsky Theater, the holder of the international prize “New Montblanc Voices” Sergey Semishkur; soloists of the Bolshoi Theater, velvet soprano Anna Nechaeva; one of the most striking mezzo-sopranos, soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theater Julia Gertseva; laureate of prestigious international competitions, the baritone of the Mariinsky Theater Vladislav Sulimsky, the charming mezzo-soprano of the invited soloist of the Mariinsky Theater Olesya Petrova, the baritone of the Mariinsky Theater Andrei Bondarenko. The star cast of the Russian opera stage, presented in the Slovak Gala, as well as an unusually accurate and harmonious alliance with the musicians of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of the Honorary Member of the Philharmonic Brno Leos Swarovski - all this could not affect the desire to continue the tradition of autumn opera seasons.
This time - already in Russia, on the site of the D. Petersburg Shostakovich Academic Philharmonic Hall, the audience will meet with the vocal culture of Slovakia in its most vivid embodiment. Dalibor Yenis, one of the best performers of the Figaro party, was applauded in Paris, Hamburg, Vienna, Frankfurt, Verona and Tokyo, and now the time has come to win the hearts of Petersburgers. The charismatic Slovak baritone will present the guests of this evening with not only Figaro’s crown cavalry - connoisseurs of opera art will enjoy a brilliant performance of the best fragments of the Barber of Seville, including the Figaro and Rosina duet, as well as the Toreador’s verses from the opera Carmen and Renato’s aria from the Ball Masquerade.
The female part of the duet and Rozina’s aria will be performed by the soloist of the Slovak National Theater Adrian Kucherov. A bright overture to the career take-off of this unusually beautiful opera singer was the successful debut at the La Scala theater in the opera Dido and Aeneas, but nevertheless fame came to her with the party of Mercedes in Carmen. The filming of the opera production under the direction of Daniel Barenboim was conducted for showing in cinemas around the world.
The Russian opera school in the program of the Gala concert will be presented by a brilliant prima of the world opera stage, soloist of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater, invited soloist of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theaters, Veronika Dzhioeva and soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theater, winner of a unique timbre Evgeny Akhmedov.
The concert program was prepared with the participation of the famous Slovak conductor Marius Stravinsky, the heir to the violin school Yehudi Menuhin and the successor of the conductor’s traditions, Thomas Sanderling.
The organizers of the gala concert are sure that this unique classic evening will be not only a gift for the most demanding connoisseurs of opera. It will serve to further enrich the unified cultural space, whose stars and artifacts serve the world and open up new opportunities for whole people and countries to work together and create. It is obvious that the coming 2016 will present bright prospects for cooperation between Russia and Slovakia.
