On September 27, the VI annual creative festival Peace and Love: The World of the Deaf took place in Sokolniki Park. More than 5,000 people participated in the festival, for whom they were prepared: a concert program on the main stage with parallel sign language interpretation, sports and educational sites, special children’s zones with animators and face painting, a mafia games zone in sign language, as well as employment and legal advice points.
Lyudmila Ivanovna Shvetsova, deputy chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, supported the organizers with the appeal: “Thanks to the festival, thousands of children and adults with hearing impairments got the opportunity to feel their importance, overcome the barrier of exclusion, and become bright personalities. And even perform on the professional stage! And it’s not easy to perform like that, but together with your favorite pop artists. ”
On the main stage of the festival were Sogdiana, Marta Kot, Oksana Ustinova, Natalya Moskvina, students of the Russian State Specialized Academy of Arts, creative group of children and youth with hearing impairment "Angels of Hope", pupils of the school of art "Eccentric". All participants received gifts from our regular partners of Nestle, perfume and cosmetics company Faberlic, Splat, and the network of trendy coffee shops Tie Fanny World - Bubble Tea.
Face painting artists, animators, and life-size puppets worked in the children’s zone, who played gifts of partners in the process: master classes on creating bouquets from foliage, ball modeling, board and logic games, scooter races, graffiti workshops. Including activities for children with hearing impairments, activities were organized from the Ronald McDonald Fitness Center.
The Sports Federation provided an opportunity for children to feel like professional athletes. For this, a two-meter-high mobile training unit with a fixed diving board for diving and a high trampoline arrived at the festival. The instructors helped the children jump, and from time to time they showed master classes. A partner of the festival, the Kangaroo fitness club network, organized fitness, yoga and dance classes for everyone. A network of sports stores "Traektoria" held master classes in longboard
In the employment area, recruitment agencies conducted training seminars on how to fill out resumes correctly when applying for jobs, accepted resumes, and provided individual advice. In parallel, the search and rescue squad Lisa Alert instructed how to behave in case of loss in the forest and in critical situations.
“Peace and Love” Charity Fund advocates for the unification of people, for strengthening communication with people with hearing impairments. Spreading and learning sign language is as important as any of the foreign ones. “We hope that the inclusive format of holding festivals will soon cease to be outlandish, and will become a mandatory norm,” said festival organizer Ekaterina Barabanova.
This year, the general partner of the festival, Vimpelcom OJSC (Beeline TK), was the first in the market to modernize several sales offices to work with clients with hearing impairments. In three Moscow offices, sign language consultants began to work. Also during the festival, an advertising campaign was launched, its participants were people who have problems with speech and hearing. The main idea of the new advertising is attention to all subscribers, even those who are not physically able to use all the offers of the operator.
Sign-language volunteers worked in all areas of the event, helping guests to participate in both master classes and sports activities.
