On November 24, at 19.00 at the Museum of Contemporary Art ARTMUZA /13 line V.O., 70/ the photo exhibition “Frame No. 2. RGB+". This will be a continuation of the creative collaboration between the museum and the ARTIKUL magazine, an author’s publication about photography and film art.
In photography there are the usual genre divisions - portrait, still life, landscape; these are general initial principles. You can make the main subject light or shadow, tonal or atmospheric phenomena, or you can group images according to completely different criteria, for example, according to the dominant color scheme - by color.
At the exhibition “Frame No. 2. RGB+" presents photographic works selected according to the main four dominant colors in the image - red, blue, yellow and green.
We will not go into details of the meaning and influence of this or that color on the viewer, because this is quite subjective. Objectively, there are two main powerful colors: red (prohibition) and green (permission). When creating the exhibition, we relied less on the psychology of colors, and more on their aesthetic, visual component.
Sometimes, in order to penetrate deeper into a topic, it is useful to complicate the circumstances and narrow the scope of the playing conditions. The circumstances proposed by the authors of the works are the dominant color in the image, which determines the aesthetic load.
Entry is traditionally free.
ARTIKUL is a St. Petersburg author’s magazine about film and photography. The idea of publishing such a publication originated at the Department of Film and Photo Art of the St. Petersburg Institute of Culture (hence its name); the first issue was published in May 2021.
The magazine publishes the works of students and graduates of creative universities of St. Petersburg in the field of audiovisual arts: photographers, directors, cameramen, animators.
The creator and editor-in-chief of the magazine is a graduate of the Institute of Culture, St. Petersburg photographer Rina Mof.
