The Great Patriotic War was the most terrible catastrophe of the 20th century that Russia had to endure. However, she revealed those heroic properties of a Russian character that allowed the people to win this war, and for Russian photographers - to enter the brightest page in the photo chronicle of the 20th century.
Among the thousands and thousands of photojournalists from 72 countries involved in World War II, working on different fronts, it was the Russian photographers who left the most piercing evidence of this terrible time, showing miracles of heroism in conditions where the very aiming of the lens to sharpness seemed neither physically nor morally impossible.
The exhibition, which opens on November 8, 2016 (runs through December 11), features about 100 photographs. The last exhibition of this project is “History of Russia in photographs. 1946 - 1964 "Will be presented in Kazan, in the Gallery of Modern Art of the Pushkin Museum of the RT from 12/15 to 01/31/2017.
