Irina Lebedeva
CHANCE is the main character in my paintings. And I would really like there to be some lightness. But always (always!) for me everything happens differently. As an electrical engineer who was introduced to art at the right time, with my exhibition I clearly, but riskily, propose that everyone join this wonderful miracle called PAINTING (or graphics).
The exhibition presents paintings from recent years. Many have been redrawn, so there is still a lot under the top layer. This is due to uncertainty. But the exhibition in Borea will give me strength, I know that for sure.

EXHIBITION OF COINCIDENCES
Studying with artists, heirs and continuers of the traditions of the St. Petersburg school of avant-garde painting, undoubtedly influenced the artistic style of Irina Lebedeva. It should be noted that in the absence of an academic school, there is nothing in her works that is called naive or primitive in art. The collective mind of the avant-garde over many years has developed such an artistic language (with many dialects) that can be spoken without a certificate from any academy. Possessing a vision of color, taste and the ability to carefully select, Irina maintains a spontaneity that is undoubtedly genuine and sufficient to enter the open ocean of free painting.
"Chance is the main character of my paintings."
The exhibition consists of works from recent years, including landscapes, still lifes, flowers and portraits of loved ones, some of which were painted from memory. Irina Lebedeva constantly returns to childhood memories of her mother and of herself as a little girl, with a feeling that is both bright and sad. In the special state of color, which is in constant motion and even anxiety, there is a certain spontaneity, which Irina calls "chance" (a "feeling of mismatch with similarity" like V. Shklovsky’s "estrangement"). It does not appear suddenly, but is quite expected by the artist, who works to create the conditions for its emergence. Working on a canvas, Irina consciously pursues, searches for, waits for the appearance of a reflection of this "chance" in color, light, line, emptiness, in their union or confrontation. Often she repaints the canvas many times until she catches "this bird in a snare." “Accident” here is not a mistake, not an oversight, but evidence of freedom and sincerity.
