The main result of the Tenth Competition was the exhibition: bright, controversial in the decisions of artists and therefore provoked heated, long discussions by jury experts. According to the rector of the Repin Institute, Semyon Mikhailovsky, the jury was not easy because of the high competition in the nominations and the difficulty of choosing between classic and innovation. “The works of artists on the topic of sports have attracted our special attention. The exhibition has many talented works. The Academy is developing, artists are moving away from cliches in revealing topics, finding vivid authorial solutions. ”
Now the sports artist’s competition will go online and will be another final event in the competition, a significant event to support and popularize the work of aspiring artists. Two galleries will compete: for the title of the best picture, 68 copyright works, for the title of the best sculpture - 39 works. Photographs of the artists’ works were taken at the competitive exposition and together with the virtual tour that opened on the site fully represent the entire competitive exhibition "World of Sports". The sculptures, watercolors and canvases recognize the faces of Olympic athletes, coach Viktor Tikhonov; the drama of fights in which the viewer witnesses sports victories and defeats is conveyed in brown-red tones. The ball of Lev Yashin became the center of composition, sports medals and posters of competitions - a sign of the success of a sports career. Artists presented the most unexpected sports angles in biathlon, gymnastics, equestrian sports, football, ice hockey, freestyle wrestling, boxing and other sports.
“Public Recognition” is the most popular sponsor award nomination organized since 2008. Here, the best works are chosen by the audience, while the results of the "popular" vote are unexpected, as a rule, diverge from the opinion of experts, which only increases interest in its results. In April, according to the results of voting at the exhibition in the nomination “Public Recognition”, the canvas “Death Match” of the lyceum student 10th grade student Mikhail Tishakov was chosen as the best picture. The best sculpture, according to public opinion, was the dynamic Ping-Pong sculpture by Alena Gnidina (5th year of the Faculty of Sculpture). On June 23, Internet voting will be stopped. After the vote count, the names of the winners of the two Public Recognition Prizes will be announced. They are equivalent to the First Prize and amount to 50,000 rubles. The total number of students and lyceum students who received the support of a philanthropist in the form of awards will be 26 people. The premium fund of the Tenth Competition exceeds 1 million rubles. Patron’s competitions are a private charity initiative of the St. Petersburg businessman Igor Minakov and are financed from his personal funds.
