At the height of interest in multimedia projects, the Irkutsk “Gallery of V. Bronstein” organized an interactive exhibition dedicated to the work of the famous Irkutsk painter Nikolai Vershinin. The exposition "An Angel in My Garden" will work from March 18 to May 8, 2017.
Nikolai Vershinin was born in 1957 in the Amur Region, graduated from the Irkutsk Art College. In 1989 he became a member of the Union of Artists of Russia. Since 1987, he participated in city, regional, regional, republican, and all-Union exhibitions. The work of Nikolai Vershinin is multifaceted and contradictory. His paintings are deeply psychological, full of inner drama, be it a portrait, landscape or even a still life. The artist’s painting is bold, intense, built on the contradiction of colors and the nervous plasticity of lines, capable of attracting the viewer’s attention for a long time.
In his works, the artist did not create specific images in the usual sense, but tried to penetrate the spiritual depth of the subject. The dense concentration of colors in some paintings was contrasted with light and purity in others. The reality surrounding the artist is transformed through the complex language of metaphors and allegories, the symbolism of color, acting here almost as the main vehicle, into a new form of being, filled with paradoxes and rebellion.
The exhibition "Angel in My Garden" combines two significant dates: sixty years from the date of birth of Nikolai Vershinin and ten years after the death of the artist. The outstanding master left behind a unique creative heritage, part of which will be presented in the new exhibition in the form of a multimedia project and paintings. The format of this exhibition is different from the classic exposition. In the exhibition space, thanks to multimedia visualization, visitors can see the master’s work in the context of modern technology. This solution will appeal to both adults and children alike. The largest part of the exhibition is comprised of works from the 1990s – 2000s, from the collection of V. Bronstein’s Gallery and private collections.
Tickets cost 150 rubles (for adults), 50 rubles (for children 3-18 years old) and 50 rubles (for preferential categories of citizens).
