Inclusive programs at the Museum of Architecture Automatic translate
The State Museum of Architecture with the support of the Alexander Svetakov Charitable Foundation "Light" is implementing a large inclusive program of events in 2022
The Shchusev State Museum of Architecture has prepared an inclusive program of various cultural and educational events that will be held throughout 2022 using a grant from the Svet Charitable Foundation for Social Assistance and Support. The program will be accessible to people with visual and hearing impairments.
For visually impaired and blind visitors , excursions will be organized to the permanent exhibition “Kalyazin. Frescoes of the flooded monastery”, located in the inner enfilade of the main building of the Museum of Architecture. The audio commentator will tell about the history and amazing rescue of a unique collection of 17th-century frescoes from the Trinity Cathedral of the Trinity-Makariev Monastery in Kalyazin. The ensemble of the monastery was destroyed and flooded in 1940 during the creation of the Uglich reservoir. During the excursions, visitors will be able to get acquainted with tactile copies of the main fragments of painting, moved from the walls of the cathedral by the expedition of the Academy of Architecture in the 1930-1940s.
To get acquainted with the main house of the Talyzin-Ustinov estate and other buildings of the estate complex - architectural monuments of the 17th-19th centuries, which house the Museum of Architecture - a tactile model of all buildings will be exhibited in the front foyer. With the support of the Svet Charitable Foundation, the Museum of Architecture will also produce tactile models of three items from its collection, placed in the public domain in the front foyer of the main building. Next to the sculptures of the 19th century "Sphinx" by Osip Bove from Gagarin’s house on Novinsky Boulevard and "Osiris-Antina", as well as historical candelabra-floor lamps, their reduced detailed copies will be placed. All items will be accompanied by annotations in Braille.
With the help of tactile objects in the foyer, visitors to the tours held in the exhibition halls on the second floor of the museum building will be able to start their acquaintance with the history and collection of the Museum of Architecture from the moment they enter its space. All objects will be exhibited from 2022 on a permanent basis.
Lectures with simultaneous translation into Russian sign language will be organized for hearing impaired and deaf visitors. A series of lectures by "Masters of Soviet Architecture", which will introduce visitors to the Museum’s collection, will be read offline in the lecture hall of the "Ruin" wing. It is dedicated to the architects of the 20th century, whose archives are kept by the Museum of Architecture. On the example of specific masters, the history of the development of Soviet architecture will be presented, as well as projects that are still known only to a narrow circle of researchers.
Other lectures on various topics from the history of architecture with duplicating translation into Russian sign language will be posted in video format on the official resources of the Museum on the Internet.
The excursion program of the Museum of Architecture for hearing-impaired and deaf visitors includes guided tours of the exposition “Kalyazin. Frescoes of the flooded monastery” in Russian sign language. At the beginning of the summer season, the Museum of Architecture will also launch the Architectural Styles of Moscow walking tours with a guide from the Gesture at the Museum project.
All events of the inclusive program of the State Museum of Architecture, conducted with the use of a grant from the Charitable Foundation for Social Assistance and Support "Svet", will be free for visitors with visual and hearing impairments.
Schedule of tiflo excursions for the exposition “Kalyazin. The Frescoes of the Flooded Monastery” will later be published on the website of the Museum of Architecture.
