The symbiosis of photography and classical painting of the 17th – 18th centuries: Moscow photography teacher Ilya Lukyanov formed a new style and dedicated an exhibition to it.
The project is called "Philosophy of Still Life", and it will be shown at the Artmuse Museum. There will be exhibited works that seem to have come out of the brush of the masters of the golden age of Dutch painting: the material presented by the author opens up the possibility of a full-fledged emotional dialogue with the pictorial plane of the frame. The starting point is the subject of still life and the language of modern digital photography.
According to the author of the exhibition, the beginning of the creation of the presented series of works was his passion for Dutch still lifes of the 17th-18th centuries. These are pictures that are fantastic in their content, light and emotional impact on the viewer. Their tonal solution, carefully thought out plot and detailing make even the most sophisticated viewer admire. However, there is an invisible barrier between the creation of the great masters and the modern viewer, associated with a change in the symbolism of the visual language. The desire to remove this obstacle became the theme for the creation of the entire series of works.
Teaching practice, according to Lukyanov himself, practically turned over his own idea of photography and made him look completely differently at classical painting, which is the source of modern photography. It was at this moment that the new essence of photographic still life was revealed to him, and he purposefully began to work on his new series of works, The Philosophy of Still Life.
The photos are extremely balanced and taken with the utmost care. The effect of his work is achieved through the play of light and shadow, moreover, it is important to note the absence of post-processing - “without Photoshop”. Ilya Lukyanov admits that he experimented with light sources for a long time - the main feature of Baroque paintings. And the author had to struggle with the excessive detail of the pictorial plane of the frame through the creation and addition of additional visual textures. This made it possible to switch the viewer to the general emotional perception of the proposed visual image.
