I Moscow International Culture Forum is completed. Although it is too early to evaluate the results and take stock, the business, professional and festival programs have aroused great interest. For four days, the Forum was visited by 27,000 people, of which professional panels - 5,647 people.
Charitable Foundation of Elena and Gennady Timchenko took an active part in the Forum. Maria Morozova, director of the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charity Fund and Elena Konovalova, director of the Culture direction, discussed with colleagues various formats and results of the work of charitable organizations in Russia. The Fund as a subject of cultural policy, the priorities of the fund in building grant programs and the specific experience of the first All-Russian contest of projects “The cultural mosaic of small towns and villages” were the main topics of three discussions of the Forum’s professional program.
“In 2014, the Timchenko Foundation became the organizer of the contest“ Cultural Mosaic of Small Cities and Villages, ”and thanks to this all-Russian project we gained invaluable experience working with cultural initiatives in the Russian countryside. In our opinion, private charity should complement the state’s resources in the development of national culture, ”said Maria Morozova, Director General of the Timchenko Foundation.
“When we conceived the contest, for us it was an attempt to understand how the country lives and what can be done to develop it. The competition showed that people in the regions are ready to offer interesting and innovative projects, and local communities have a great interest in supporting these initiatives, ”said Elena Konovalova, director of the Culture department of the Timchenko Foundation.
As a result of the competition, the cultural map of Russia was replenished with small towns and villages, a new cultural geography was formed. Now the marathon of projects continues. Until the end of November 2014, theater, music, landscape festivals, walking tours, documentary films, open readings, educational programs, photo exhibitions and master classes will be held in different regions of the country. And as the 1st Moscow International Forum of Culture has shown, this is important not only for regional development, but also for the country as a whole.
