Concept:
The need for sincerity, humanity, a genuine sense of life, not existence. Why do people tend to live in the past or the future, missing out on what is happening here and now?
"Nostalgia for the Present" is an exhibition-research, an artistic reminder to the viewer and the artist himself that the most important thing is not somewhere at a distance geographic or temporal, but very close. A characteristic feature of postmodernism in the 70s and 80s was the use of quotes from the past, reworking of early works of art. And now a modern creator is struggling to overcome this stage of unfinished postmodernism, “feeling for” the basis for a new art, where there should be no place for distortions, implausibility of emotions and expressions. Nostalgia, like a cry for help, calls for the affirmation of simple happiness and peace. Nostalgia for the present is not a feeling for something irretrievably lost. This is the hope that we are still able to get rid of social masks, emotional emptiness and frustration in our time.
Do not expect a sense of the authenticity of life, or consider it long lost. We can return it to ourselves only by remembering that we are still alive and still able to experience: because of immense happiness, debilitating grief, because of bad weather and, of course, love.
The reference in the title of the exhibition project to the famous poem by Andrei Voznesensky connects, it would seem, completely different eras. Nevertheless, the theme of longing for truth and freedom is acutely perceived even now. The presented works are a synthesis of the components of our reality, their reinterpretation and exposure. Each artist, in his own way, reveals his real self and calls for the honesty of the viewer
