Erarta Museum presents an exhibition of the independent association of Perm artists "KUB" - a symbolic journey into the universe of twilight fantasies and fears
- A collection of phantom images, shadow emotions and ghost states
- Works reminiscent of book illustrations, comics and anime
- Synthesis of children’s and adult perception of the world
Those whose childhood fell on the Soviet period probably remember short horror stories about the Black Hand, Red Spot, Green Fingers, Yellow Eyes and other evil spirits. Left alone, the children whispered these stories to each other in the dark. With its onset, the space around the child is transformed: it is filled with images of ghosts living in the darkness. Doors to rooms and cabinet doors, windows, emptiness under the bed, every unlit corner - everywhere secret portals open to another reality where monsters live. The monsters are terrible: terribly beautiful, naive and kind inside.
The Half Step into Twilight project is a symbolic journey into the world of children’s inventions and fears, during which the authors allow the twilight "monsters" to show themselves. Here these unseen creatures seem to restore themselves to their rights. For several years, members of the Perm group "KUB" have been collecting microparticles of life: phantom fantasies, shadow emotions, ghost states. They were especially interested in the feeling of fear - and not real threats, but rather "pseudo-fears" generated by the imagination. The artists strove to capture the very moment of fright - to capture his "body". The works presented at the exhibition are not a reference to specific characters of children’s horror. The images are eclectic, phantasmagoric, sometimes naive. They resemble book illustrations, comics, anime - everything that gives food to fantasy. But this is not only the view of a child - the exhibition also reflects the adult perception of the universe of twilight myths.
Each work is a key, a barely noticeable, but caught moment in time, teleporting the viewer to the other world: to the past or to a parallel dimension. Logic does not work here: a click, and a match striking against the box takes us to the place where the second turns into eternity.
