Graffiti fest ALARM in Odessa: 40 writers created an art object from a shopping center in two days Automatic translate
In Odessa, using graffiti in two days, they created an art object from the external walls of the shopping center. The Atrium shopping center in the village of Kotovsky gave full freedom to the participants of the ALARM festival graffiti and in return received a work of modern art on more than 600 square meters.
The organizers of the festival and the venue plan to continue the work that has been started next year, as well as to develop an art theme in and around the shopping center on Bocharova.
“Today graffiti is more than a subculture. Graffiti is an art recognized throughout the modern world. In recent years, such actions are held around the world - London, New York, Tel Aviv, and now Odessa.
Contemporary art and art in general should be accessible to people in everyday life. Color-filled calligraphy transforms the strict familiar facades and encourages us to fantasize and dream. Isn’t that wonderful?.. ”, says Inna Nikolaeva, initiator of the first in Odessa graffiti festival ALARM.
A shopping center as an object for graffiti is bold and modern. Graffiti artists were not limited in themes, they were given complete freedom. For two days of the festival, writers used almost 500 spray cans of paint.
Participants of the ALARM festival, more than 40 writers, came from all over Ukraine. Many of them are eminent members of the graffiti community, Ukrainian stars of the genre.
Such writers as Keno, Steor, Shum, Ky, Plus, Frost, Tols, Paco, Dilk, Akor, Kolba, Feros, Nam2, Flint, Smack, Planet, Tonek, Mank, Prime took part in the festival on August 19 and 20 in Odessa, Rubae, Beast, Alien, Shan, Woke, Seib, Okey, Shabe, Weenk, Baka, Zha, Cube, Vlime, Def, Nojevoi, Monty viber, Sleekiez, Eckiss and others.
“Has this happened before in Ukraine?” We do not know. We know that this is the first shopping center in Odessa, which decided on this! The work will remain on the walls of the building and we plan to continue next year, ”said festival organizers and representatives of the Atrium shopping center.
The festival is held for the third year and in Odessa for the first time. On August 19 and 20, everyone could get acquainted with the stars of Ukrainian graffiti, try themselves, take training workshops and participate in a big street art event.
The festival’s parallel program was rich: the guests saw how sculptor Sergey Vuk creates wood sculptures in front of everyone, visited an exhibition of folk dresses and a show of models by the Plattopis project by Vladimir Umanenko, participated in the “Paint of Creation” meditation by psychologist Anna Iskrova, watched open-air cinema and listened to the new album of the singer Lesia Verba.
In addition, the audience got the opportunity to become artists themselves - you could try yourself in body art, painting protective masks and in the program for the smallest.
