Polychrome sculpture and art objects
In the Small Hall
This small exhibition is an attempt by the author to talk with the audience about the common spirit of the times for all of us, contemporaries. The material for the sculptures is wood; acrylic paints were used for painting. Painted sculpture is not an innovative refinement, but rather a tradition. According to art historians, in the Ancient World, all sculptural objects were polychrome, that is, colored. It is hard to imagine what the polychrome Parthenon in Athens looked like and what the white, classic marble figures looked like in color, but this is so. In the Middle Ages, color was actively used in Christian sculpture in the interiors of Gothic cathedrals. Color sculpture is widely represented in the folk art of all countries. In Russia, the most complete collection of such plastic is in the Perm Art Gallery.
The reference to the history of sculpture is not accidental. Alexander Eremin is interested in the problem of the existence of traditional sculpture in modern conditions, the search for simple but ambiguous forms, a reflection of current trends in society, refracted through the prism of personal perception. The sculpture object, embodied by the author, conveys one of the states characteristic of man. We are all, more or less, products of the information age, respectively, things that concern us, have also become more or less common for everyone.
