The Russian Academy of Arts presents an exhibition of works by the People’s Artist of Russia, Laureate of the Lenin Komsomol Prize, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Professor of the Smolensk State Pedagogical University Gennady Vasilyevich Namerovsky “In Time Space”.
The exposition will comprise more than 50 works of different years, made in the technique of tempera, representing the work of the master in all its various facets.
Gennady Vasilyevich Namerovsky is one of the most outstanding masters of contemporary graphic art in the Russian Federation, an example of creative activity, dedication, artistic search, and a personal outlook on art.
G.V. Namerovsky I was born in 1942 in the Kazakh city of Irtyshsk. In 1965 graduated from the art and graphic department of the Omsk State Pedagogical Institute. A. M. Gorky, studied the wonderful master A. N. Liberov, who, along with professional knowledge and skills, instilled the traditions of the Leningrad school, which is distinguished by a high culture, sense of proportion, and taste.
From 1965 to 1975, he taught drawing at the art center of the Omsk Pedagogical Institute, then from 1979-1984 - at the Vitebsk Institute of Technology, and later in Smolensk as a professor at the Pedagogical University.
The formation of G. Namerovsky as a major master of fine art took place in the era of the great Komsomol construction projects. Creative trips of young artists to the north of Siberia, in Khanty-Mansiysk, for the construction of the BAM, the villages of Zvezdny, Magistralny opened up a complex world in front of him, where the romantic work led to difficult living conditions and diverse human destinies.

These trips gave him the opportunity to learn to convey in his works the most characteristic features of his difficult time, to create psychological portraits of his contemporaries, to make sketches of their life and the harsh Siberian nature.
Huge influence on the young artist was made by the Senezh House of Creativity of the Union of Artists of the USSR, where, gradually, together with young artists from Moscow, Leningrad, masters from the Union republics, his professionalism was formed.
An established master of fine art in 1981, Namerovsky became part of the Smolensk branch of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR and quickly became not only an organic part of it, but also a creative avant-garde, for 13 years he headed the Smolensk branch of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation, created the Smolensky House of Artists.

The original style of Gennady Namerovsky attracts with its direct artistic vision, warmth and charm, thorough knowledge of what the artist seeks to convey on his sheets. Masters are interested in the life of the landscape, objects in their ongoing, lasting being. Hence the “seriality” of his art, the author’s immersion in a particular topic, the need for its plot, coloristic, rhythmic development. His early series “BAM”, “Kamchatka”, created as a result of creative trips, are well known. The theme of Smolensk, which became the artist’s family, is embodied in several series: “The City”, “On the Seven Hills”, “Smolensk”. In the beauty and harmony of architectural monuments, fragments of historical space, the city appears as the guardian of traditions. At the same time, it is a living organism, modern, developing - in contrasts and harmony of the past and present, dynamics and tension of forms.

The series “My Village” (1990s) with one of the piercing sheets “Bouquet of Daria Rodionovna” (1992), which combines the warmth of human relations, natural latitude and artistic compositional skill, is characteristic of the work of G. Namerovsky.
Foreign trips, the work of European masters gave impetus to the creation of the cycle "In Italy", which the artist continues to this day.
Through a seemingly simple technique - the motive of a window, a bouquet against the backdrop of a landscape, object or figure in an architectural or natural space, the author speaks to the viewer about enduring values, expresses a sense of the unity of the world, momentary and eternal, the equalness of natural and spiritual beauty as two components of art. As, for example, in the sheets “Remembering the Uffizi” (2000), “The Big Window” (2012), “Paraskeva Friday” (2007), “Florence” (2007) and others. In his philosophical and partially contemplative works, less static. Everything lives in them, worries, moves. Bold foreshortenings, interruption of plans, sharp corners, sharp strokes, mosaic laying on the canvas, condensed color, “talking” details are the main signs of his style, which involves us in an amazing journey in “Space of Time”.
The exhibition runs on January 8, 2018.
