The duet of two great musicians - Honored Artist of Russia Yana Ivanilova (soprano) and laureate of international competitions Yekaterina Derzhavina (piano) - will present the exquisite Haydn and Pupils program on Bolshaya Bronnaya. In addition to vocal and instrumental compositions by Haydn himself (three songs and sonata No. 50 in D major for piano Hob. XVI: 37), the concert program will include works by two of his students: Ludwig van Beethoven and Sigismund von Neukomm. For the young Beethoven, the first meeting with Haydn in Bonn was the main event of the summer of 1792, and the elderly maestro was impressed by the abilities of the beginning composer. When Beethoven moved to Vienna, he immediately went to Haydn, who agreed to give him lessons. These classes lasted several years, but obviously were somewhat tiring for both - Beethoven found Haydn’s pedagogical style too methodical and formal, and Haydn considered the young composer masterful and arrogant (joking, he called it “great mogul”). The concert program will include Beethoven’s early compositions: “Seven Bagatelles for Piano” (op. 33) and “Eight Songs” (op. 52). The lesser-known Austrian composer Sigismund von Neukomm had a much warmer relationship with his "father" Haydn. Neukomm studied music in Vienna under the guidance of Michael and Joseph Haydnov and maintained friendship with them for life. The concert program will include two songs, “The Harmonic Elegy (In Memory of J. L. Düssec)” and the caprice with the characteristic name “O Amor braziliero” (“Oh Brazilian Love”), which Neukomm wrote during his stay in Latin America.
