War is for men. Her faithful companions are death, fear, destruction, but, nevertheless, she is not without romance. The heroes of this exhibition are young soldiers, they are fearless, strong and good-looking, which makes it even sadder to look at these pictures.
The project is a series of forty photographs of the reconstruction of events and twenty-three unique photographs from the scene of events dedicated to the participation of Soviet troops in the war in Afghanistan.
The work of Alexandra Blaginina is a tribute to the living and fallen internationalist warriors who took part in the largest armed conflict of the Soviet Union in the period after the end of World War II.
The photographs depict realistic battle scenes, piercing portraits of the heroes who participated in this brutal and merciless war, as well as picturesque, colorful pictures from the life of the East.
The pictures reflect the anguish pain of the military confrontation that directly affected our Fatherland. Over a decade, over half a million Soviet citizens passed through the crucible of the Afghan war. In the period from 1979 to 1989, the loss of Soviet troops amounted to more than 15 thousand people.
The exhibition was implemented with the support of the Russian Union of Veterans of Afghanistan, with the organizational support of the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksenov, as well as the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea.
The filming process was organized in the Crimea, in the areas of Simferopol and Bakhchisaray, with the participation of the club of reenactors "Thunder".
In 2017, a photo exhibition was held in Simferopol, at the State Academic Musical Theater of the Republic of Crimea, to commemorate the Day of Remembrance of Russians Performing Official Duties Outside of the Fatherland. Also in the summer of 2017, the exhibition opened in the Government House of the Saratov Region and a little later in the management of the Russian Guard in the Saratov Region. In early February 2018, the exhibition was held in the Council of Federations and in Crocus City Hall as part of events dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.
