Photo exhibition of Yuri Molodkovets "Children’s Album" at the Toy Museum Automatic translate
Yuri Molodkovets - photo artist of the State Hermitage Museum. His photographs illustrate more than 200 publications devoted to the collections of the Hermitage, as well as books on the history and architecture of St. Petersburg.
But in his lens - not only museum treasures and masterpieces of architecture. From 2005 to 2011, Molodkovets worked on the series "Children’s Album", filming "flea still lifes" at the elemental market in Udelnaya. Here, old toys coexist with other rejected things that the flea market presents to us again. 20 works from this series are presented in the Exhibition Hall of the Museum. It is a toy, turning to the innermost in our memory, that makes one peer into the archaeological sections of domestic life. The author does not include people in the frames, leaving us alone with these ghosts. Here we are both sellers and buyers, who discover the discrepancy between prices and values. Reliving their relationship with history, shared and personal.
Probably only a child will be able to perceive things in the pictures pricelessly and unconditionally. If he sees history in them, then it’s fabulous, and certainly with a good end. The action "toy flea market" is timed to coincide with the exhibition: each young visitor will be able to find an interesting thing here by exchanging it for his old toy or buying at a symbolic price.
In the photographs of Yuri Molodkovets there are many funny, eloquent, touching comparisons that arose in a random neighborhood of things. The peculiar beauty of the "collapse", which the master saw and captured, invites you to test your own strength in artistic photography. In the Exhibition Hall you can independently compose and photograph a still life of vintage objects proposed by the Museum.
