Gennady Savkin ”, dedicated to the 70th birthday of the famous Saratov photographer Gennady Nikolayevich Savkin, chairman of the board of the Saratov organization of the Union of Photo Artists of Russia, member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

The exhibition is held as part of the experimental creative workshop of the Volga branch of the Russian Academy of Arts and the TSH of the Saratov region. Dates of exposure: February 18 - March 15, 2020.

The head of the PORAH and TSHR creative workshops is Konstantin Khudyakov, vice-president of the Russian Academy of Arts, chairman of the Volga branch of the Russian Academy of Arts, president of the Creative Union of Russian Artists.

The author of the idea is Gennady Savkin , a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, a member of the SROO "TLC of the Saratov Region."

The exposition presents more than 500 photographs taken in different periods of G. N. Savkin’s activity: 1960-70, 1970-90, from the 2000s to the present. The works are presented in the main genres of modern photography.

G.N. Savkin lives and works in Saratov. He has been involved in photography for over 60 years. Member of Russian and foreign exhibitions and competitions, organizer of numerous exhibitions of local artists. For more than 50 years, he has been heading the photo laboratory at the P.N. Yablochkov College of Saratov State University. Not only a venerable photographer, but also a psychologist, an expert on human faces and souls, a natural philosopher, an excellent storyteller.

G.N. Savkin about his vocation:

“A photographer is a person who writes with light. Once having taken up this interesting business, I could no longer stop. And I always wanted to take a photo first of all for myself. When I get an idea, I go for several days under the impression that a joyful event happened - it was born, my work took place. A piece of my life was a success. After that, I show the work to congenial people. For me, as for any creative person, an audience rating is important. I still work with pleasure, joy. And I stubbornly keep my pictures, maybe they will survive until better times. The soul wants it. You can’t lose perspective by living only today. ”

In the format of the exhibition, it is planned to hold creative meetings with the author Gennady Nikolayevich Savkin, excursions and educational and methodical classes for students of the SKhU them. A.P. Bogolyubov, Saratov universities and colleges (by appointment).

The exhibition is open for visiting during the opening hours of the exhibition hall of the Bogolyubov school: from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, Saturday and Sunday - a day off.
