Visitors will be presented with images of modern Russia in the works of photographers from different countries.

From January 18 to March 18, the Gallery of Classical Photography presents the Franco-Russian photo project Center de Gravité. The force of attraction ”, in which 11 foreign and Russian photographers tried to create a portrait of the largest and controversial country in the world.

The project focuses on modern Russia in all its diversity and unpredictability. Visitors will be presented about seven dozen images that reflect the full paradoxes and contrasts of the life of our country. The exhibition reveals twelve storylines: Tenderness, Faith, Renunciation, Fate, Water, Energy, Contrasts, Lines, East-West, Extremes, Immensity and Optimism. There are footage from swimming in ice water at Epiphany, portraits of charismatic rural residents, and very personal stories of the authors. Each of the pictures is provided with a commentary by the photographer about how the photo was taken or why he was interested in this particular plot.

“Russia, like a huge mirror in which the course of days is reflected, epochs are changing, new and ancient mixes into an intricate pattern. “Center de gravité. The force of attraction "is a project-sensation that reflects the beauty and diversity of Russia," says project curator Alina Reshetova.

Photographs and texts presented at the Center de Gravité. The Force of Attraction ”was previously combined into a book of the same name published by the publishing house Éditions du Courrier de Russie.
