Photo exhibition "Albania in Photos" at the V.V. Mayakovsky Public Library Automatic translate
On October 20 at 14.00 in the V.V. Mayakovsky Public Library (46 Fontanka embankment), the photo exhibition “Albania in Photos” will open as part of the Days of the Spiritual Culture of Albania in Russia, which are held from October 1 to December 12. The exhibition runs until November 1.
For the second year already, the friendly Balkan countries, within the framework of the official program, present their culture in Russia. This year, little known to Russians, Albania sends its cultural ambassadors to Moscow and St. Petersburg. This small state is located in the western part of the Balkan Peninsula, on the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, has great tourist potential and a long history of friendly relations with Russia.
41 color photographs of the most beautiful and memorable views of Albania on various topics: nature, cultural monuments, folk costumes, city landscapes, etc. were selected for the photo exhibition “Albania in Photos”. In the photo you can see views of cities such as ancient Apollonia or Tirana - the capital and heart of Albania. The city-museum of Butrint, which, according to Virgil, is considered the New Troy, is protected by UNESCO. Or, for example, Berat is a “city of many windows”, where you can see the facades of houses with windows located one above the other. Gjirokaster is also called the “city of a thousand steps” because of the fortress in the city center and tall stone houses that look like small castles.
The photos were taken by the famous Albanian photographer Roland Tasho. This exhibition has already visited London, St. Galen (Switzerland), Rome. Roland Tasho has worked in newspapers for more than 20 years as a photojournalist, today he is an independent photo artist who has organized more than fifty personal exhibitions in different parts of the world. The exhibition will run on November 1.
The project “Days of the Spiritual Culture of Albania” started on October 1 in Moscow with a concert by the National Chamber Orchestra of Radio and Television of Albania under the direction of Oleg Arapi and the female choir “Mother Teresa” under the direction of Susanna Turku. The same concert was held on October 4 in St. Petersburg. As part of the project, an exhibition “Albanian Icon Painting” is also taking place in Moscow from October 10 to 30 at the Central Museum of Ancient Russian Culture and Art named after Andrei Rublev.
“The days of Albanian culture in Russia are taking place against the backdrop of a number of events, both in Albania and abroad within the framework of the 100th anniversary of the Albanian state,” says Aldo Bumchi, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports of the Republic of Albania. - The values and sizes of the country cannot be limited to one exposition or Culture Week, but such events help to remove border barriers and bring the two nations closer together. I hope that these events will add desires to those who seek to learn more about the culture and history of Albania, to learn to love and appreciate it.
I am convinced that such events, which allow laying “bridges” for the exchange of the most important and noble values between our two peoples, are mutually beneficial and have a mutually beneficial effect.
