The Palace House in the Beauly Museum complex became the first gallery in the UK to specialize in displaying works of Russian art from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Part of the recently restored personal apartments of the late Lord Montague is reserved for the exposition. The agreement to open a permanent exhibition of Russian art in Buly was signed in July 2016.
At the exhibition, the Art Russe Foundation presented more than 15 paintings and sculptures, including works by Igor Rubinsky, Alexander Gerasimov, Nikolai Feshin and other works from the collection of the Fund. The exposition at Beauly Castle (Palace House) will be open all summer.
Anne Parsons, project coordinator at Palace House: “The new exhibition of the Art Russe Foundation, presented in Beaulieu, includes a variety of works of Russian art: from the May Day demonstration, which demonstrates the power of unity of the Soviet people, to the impeccably beautiful“ Daisies ”- paintings, "written by Nikolai Feshin after emigrating to the United States and being a reference example of the artist, who became one of the best draftsmen of the 1930s."
Founder of the Art Russe Foundation Andrei Filatov: “The Permanent Gallery of Russian Art, jointly with the Bulyi Museum Complex, is one of the most ambitious projects to popularize Russian art that are being implemented by the Foundation today. We hope that the audience from the UK and other countries will appreciate the masterpieces of Russian painting and sculpture, many of which have been in private collections for several decades and therefore were not available to the general public. ”
The spring exhibition includes works created in the period from the end of the 19th century until the 1990s, that is, in years that most fully reflect the main stages of development of Russian art. The exhibition presents the works of Alexei Belykh ("Spring on the Volga", 1968), Semyon Chuykov ("Evening in Kyrgyzstan", 1940), Alexander Gerasimov ("Peonies", 1931), Tatyana Kopnina ("Girls", 1960), Vladimir Masik (“Naive Melodies”, 1989-90), Peter Ossovsky (“The Church” and the triptych “Rainbow”, 1989-1990), Vladimir Stozharov (“Shotova Gora” ", 1966), Fedota Sychkova (" A Girl in a Colorful Shawl ", 1933) and other authors.
The exhibition is housed in the wing of the Palace House, formerly part of Lord Eduard Montague’s private apartments. The exhibition of the Art Russe Foundation will be regularly updated, which will give visitors the opportunity to get acquainted with new paintings and sculptures.
