The Fine Art Gallery presents 4 projects by the young artist Philip Riefenstahl. This is the first exhibition of the photographer. He is 24 years old, and ideas overwhelm him
1. APOLLO. I REPENT (Apollo. I’m sorry). The project includes 4 black and white photographs. At the heart of the plan is the ancient Greek myth "Daphne and Apollo." Apollo, wounded by the arrow of Eros, falls in love with the beautiful nymph Daphne, but she, having vowed virginity, rejects Apollo. Enraged by the refusal, Apollo pursues the fleeing Daphne, overtakes her, but at that moment Daphne turns into a beautiful laurel tree, and in Apollo’s hands only a handful of laurel leaves. With this allegory, the author wants to show the process of growing up a person - the transformation of a teenager into a man responsible for his actions. At first, Apollo seems offended by a teenager in the photo, he is angry, because something unfavorably taken from him was unfairly taken. Then repentance, regret appears on the face of Apollo, he realized the deed, but late. And although Apollo’s head is now crowned with a laurel wreath of victory, sadness remains.
2. DIARY OF THE TOMATO. The project includes color photographs: portraits in which people’s faces are replaced by vegetables. Each image reflects the mood characteristic of a person, and all together demonstrate a change, a series of these moods.
3. "9". The project consists of 8 black and white photographs. Eight female figures, faces almost completely covered by geometric figures. In the hands are also geometric shapes. In essence, there is no difference between a man and a mannequin, female figures are used to create geometric compositions.
4. SEE HOW I CAN. This is a project with a continuation, it is started and is in development. Young artists are looking at us from the photographs, each standing against the backdrop of his work. The works themselves, without hesitation, can be attributed to abstract expressionism, some are associated with the name of Jackson Pollock. The faces of artists reflect thoughtfulness, self-deepening, or flaming enthusiasm. All authors are actors of the inclusive Theater of the Simple-minded, they are all owners of excess
47th chromosome causing Down syndrome. F. Riefenstahl was able to show how people with special needs — children of the sun — perform creative tasks no worse than ordinary people burdened with logical thinking. It seems to us that this project is very important and significant for fostering kindness and generosity towards special people in society.
