“August 1991 is the first and undeservedly forgotten holiday of modern Russia, the point of transition from the old to the new, the moment when it became clear that the country would never be the same. Only now it becomes clear that the most pressing stories of today were tied at that time, at a single point of no return and reboot. This is our festival program, many hours of lecture marathon, round tables, discussions, rock concert and rave parties - and, of course, the performance of the Theater. doc resurrecting the events of August 19-21. It’s time to remember and discuss this unique time, its light and dark sides, ”says Maria Stepanova, COLTA editor-in-chief. RU and project curator.
The important events that arose in the 1990s will be presented in the form of a lecture marathon on August 20: Alexei Venediktov - about journalism, Irina Prokhorova - about publishing, Irina Yasina - about business, Evgeny Ass - about urbanism, Anton Dolin - about cinema, Alexander Baunov - about the relations between Russia and Turkey, Stanislav Gridasov - about what happened in the 1990s with the Soviet sports system, Anna Narinskaya - about the new reading. Designers Olga Soldatova, Andrey Bartenev and others will talk about the style and fashion of transitional time.
Especially for the festival Theater. doc will prepare an interactive reconstruction of the events of August 1991 - the many-hour performance-performance “Time of August”. Eyewitness accounts, an excursion into the world of forgotten people and contemporary things, an understanding of what happened, “children of the nineties” - peers of the new country.
The festival program includes speeches by authors who created the language of new poetry in the early 1990s - Sergey Gandlevsky, Dmitry Vodennikov, Timur Kibirov.
Spectators will also expect surprises from street performances to unexpected photo shoots throughout the event.
The final musical event of the festival will be a solo acoustic concert by Vyacheslav Butusov, in front of which on the main stage there will appear cult Moscow bands Alliance, Polite Refusal and Megapolis.
