January 15, 2019 in the exhibition halls of the Russian Academy of Arts (Moscow, Prechistenka, 21) an exhibition of works by the Honored Artist of Russia, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts Tatyana Sergeyevna Shikhireva “The Age. Plot. A person". About 40 works made in the technique of batik, tempera painting, painted wooden sculpture transfer the viewer into the space of author’s imagination.
Tatyana Shikhireva was born in Baku in 1949. In 1971 she graduated from the Moscow Technological Institute (Department of Fabric Decoration), where her teachers were E.K. Kovalenko, V.N. Petrov-Kamchatsky, Yu.M. Ginger. From this time begins her active artistic and social activities.
Today Tatyana Sergeevna is one of the leading contemporary masters of decorative art working in the technique of hot batik. She is a participant in Moscow, Russian, foreign and international exhibitions, including exhibitions in Paris (UNESCO), Delhi, Norway, Germany, Indonesia and other countries. Her works are in private collections in Spain, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark. Refined coloristic constructions, the impeccability of the artistic taste, the special romanticism of the figurative system, characteristic of the artist’s works, earned her well-deserved recognition by professionals and a wide audience.
Tatyana Shikhireva’s creativity is a world of fairy tales, fantasies, filled with the “heroes” invented by her. They are original and unique in their artistic embodiment, which allows us to talk about the integrity of the artistic vision of the author. Working in his unique manner of performance, the artist creates something similar to a theatrical performance, a carnival action in which scenes of dreams and dreams, dreams are played out. Careful, one can say the jewelry performance of the mural, the varied variety of the smallest details allow us to classify each work as unique, with all their obvious stylistic similarities.
Preferring her favorite materials - batik, tempera - she creates works that are inspired by heroes of different eras: this is Peter’s time with court etiquette and entertainment balls, the medieval world with its cult of the Beautiful Lady, earlier the Renaissance and the time of the “gallant genre”. The images of dolls and puppets in them convey the emotional attitude of the author, the emotional response of her heart.
Among the original author’s solutions T. Shikhireva is the framing of works in old wooden “window-frames” that add depth to the image. In this, she sees a peculiar artistic device for combining painting on a plane and a plastic principle enclosed in ornamental carvings. Woodcarving according to the sketches of Shikhireva is performed by N.S. Kononchuk. Their joint activity was developed in the creation of painted wooden sculptures, organically connected with the textile creations of Shikhireva.
The world of theater, fairy tales, full of light irony, good humor appears in the works of the master, who made up the exhibition in the halls of the Russian Academy of Arts.
