May 6 at 16:00 in the Gallery "Nagornaya" Association "Exhibition Halls of Moscow" will open two exhibitions - "Soul trouble" and "Color Transformation", opening the project "Private Collection", which introduce unique paintings of XX-XXI centuries., in which this distinctive tradition is creatively enriched by an individual author’s worldview.
Interest in the Armenian fine tradition is an actual phenomenon today. This is evidenced by the appeal of contemporary artists to the motives, plots, techniques and styles characteristic of this ancient tradition.
The works of Nina Gabrielyan, a supporter of the coloristic direction in painting, offer an analysis of color, its metamorphoses, transformations and transitions based on genre plots, landscapes, still lifes and portraits inspired by trips to Armenia, Europe and Russia. The artist’s paintings are characterized by a theatrical aspect. As art historian Olga Kostina notes, among Gabrielians, "each image is built on the principle of a scenic space, inside of which as if some kind of fabulous action is unfolding…".
The basis of chamber and lyric paintings by the representative of naive art Edmond Petrosyan (Diken) is a subtle philosophy. The laconicism of the images of his biblical plots, genre scenes, and unique mountainous nature reveals the roots of the artist’s self-knowledge, his emotional turmoil, analysis and reflection of today.
More than 60 works will find temporary shelter within the walls of the Nagornaya gallery.
The unifying leitmotif of the project is a special screening of a video about the art of Armenia.
The exposition is unique in that most of the work belongs to private collections, among which are the collections of Anatoly Kitashev and Tigran Shahramanyan. Many paintings first appeared before the general public. The exhibition will be accompanied by a program including lectures, thematic discussions, music evenings and excursions.

May 12, 19. 00 “Pomegranate Color”. FILM SCREENINGS ON FRIDAY
Director Sergey Parajanov, USSR, 1968, 74 min. “Color of Pomegranate” (“Sayat-Nova”) is a poetic film parable by Sergei Parajanov about the great Armenian poet, master of love lyrics, Sayat-Nova, shot in 1968 at the “Armenfilm” film studio. The author’s name is “Sayat-Nova”. In the film “Pomegranate Color”, consisting of several miniatures, an attempt was made to show the spiritual world of the medieval Armenian poet Sayat-Nova who wrote in Armenian, Georgian and Azerbaijani languages, the story of his love, the poet’s attitude to religion, secular authorities, and people. In the absence of the usual literary monologue, all the decisions of the author of the film lie in a purely visual sphere. “The Color of the Pomegranate” became the main film of Parajanov: these are the revived medieval Armenian frescoes that turned cinema into poetry. The fate of the film “Pomegranate Color” was not easy: the world audience will see the film only in the early 80’s. From the miraculously preserved working materials, the paintings in the 90s will make an “authorial version”, and the director Levon Grigoryan, who worked as an assistant in the film, will assemble his “Memories of Sayat-Nova.” After the show, a discussion part is planned, where you can discuss your impressions and thoughts on the movie.
