On October 29, 2016, within the walls of the Tutti Quanti art space, an exhibition of the famous Colombian contemporary artist, Fernando Oramas, will open.
Petersburg is the first and only city in Russia in which the true connoisseurs of art will be presented the work of the master. Fernando Oramas is a Colombian artist, cartoonist, illustrator, painting teacher, a vivid representative of Mexican muralism (the artistic direction of monumental painting, founded by Diego Riveira, Jose Orozco and David Siqueiros).
The artist’s long and eventful life left a great creative legacy, works made in various genres and styles. The paintings of Oramas are not limited to one direction, the master created in the style of costumbrianism (popular for painting of Latin America of the twentieth century), loved to work in the genre of portraiture and landscape, and also created abstract canvases.
Political events of the mid-twentieth century, close relations with Che Guevara, the revolutionary nature of the soul, are reflected in the paintings of the master. When painting, Oramas, who became one of Colombia’s main colorists, used innovative materials, primarily pyroxylin varnish. Fernando Oramas mastered this technique in Mexico during a collaboration with David Siqueiros and Diego Riveira.
Visitors to the exhibition in St. Petersburg will be presented with reproductions as well as original paintings by the master, each of which has its own unique history.

“Fernando Oramas is very famous in his homeland in Colombia and Latin America as a whole, but we know that in Russia his work is not so well known. At the same time, we saw what kind of response the audience had in Latin American painting, in particular, Frida Kahlo. Especially for the Russian audience, we brought from Colombia paintings from the collection of our family. I am sure that the work of Fernando Oramas will cause an emotional response from the Russian audience, and perhaps many will genuinely love these paintings and show interest in Colombian painting in general, ”says the artist’s son Juan Alejandro Oramas Bonilla.
“For the gallery of our art space, it is an honor and joy to present the works of Fernando Oramas. We are used to the fact that the works of great artists are usually exhibited in museums of world or federal level with a big name, but we are happy to break this tradition and show that such small spaces as Tutti Quanti also contribute to the unification of cultures, emphasize the value of art in our lives. It is no coincidence that we make the entrance to this exhibition free so that as many Petersburgers and guests of our beautiful city as possible can discover Colombian art through the works of the wonderful artist Fernando Oramas, ”says Oksana Muravyova, director of the Tutti Quanti art space.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on October 29, Saturday, at 16.00 in the Tutti Quanti art space at the address: St. Petersburg, ul. Ryleyeva, d. 3 (metro station - "Chernyshevskaya"). On this day, live Latin American music will sound for visitors to Tutti Quanti.
The exposition is open to visitors from October 29 to November 30, 2016.
The Tutti Quanti art space is open from Monday to Friday from 11:00 to 20:00, Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 18:00, admission is free.
