The exhibition project “Two geniuses of dance”, prepared by contemporary Moscow artist Alexander Chalovsky (graduate of the Moscow State Art and Industry Academy named after S. G. Stroganov, member of the Creative Union of Russian Artists) together with Natella Voyskunskaya, curator and producer, director of the GRANI Foundation, art director of the ASTI gallery and co-curator Olga Leonova, is dedicated to two great dancers - Rudolf Nuriev and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
Rudolf Nuriev, whose 80th birthday is celebrated this year, is a symbol of a person who creates the immortal art of Dance. It is the emotional impact of the personality of the great artist that explains the desire of Alexander Chalovsky to come into contact with the image of the great magician and wizard of dance, with his moving substance, in which the spiritual and physical are inextricably linked. The artist is talented in embodying in his canvases the “sacred ecstasy” of canonical gestures and a genius dancer. The exposition will show a film by the famous French animator Pyr-Emmanuel Chatillier, recreating an act - a symbolic event "jump to the West", which revolutionized the creative life of Rudolf Nuriev.
Another person who is a symbol of the ballet of the twentieth century is Mikhail Baryshnikov. The artist Alexander Chalovsky, inspired by the image of an outstanding dancer and a talented dramatic actor, presents at the exhibition a series of works that recreate the images created by Baryshnikov.
“Two geniuses of dance” is a project that the artist Alexander Chalovsky took as a challenge, relying on the fact that the measure of his talent and achieved skill will allow him to adequately and convincingly not only recreate the image of Rudolf Nuriev and Mikhail Baryshnikov, but also convey to the audience all the attractive power of two geniuses of dance.
The exhibition runs until June 3, 2018.
